Patrick was invited to play in the Vestavia Invitational Tournament in Birmingham last weekend. His team had an 8am game on Saturday morning so Patrick, Caitie and I drove down late on Friday night. It was an extremely cold weekend, so we bundled up with our hand warmers and headed out to the 8am game.
They won their first game 3-1 which was a great start to the tournament.
The next game was at 5pm and we played a tough team. The game ended with no goals for either team and we got a tie. Michael, Peyton and Conor showed up halfway through the game to cheer Patrick on. These sweet little girls had a blast eating popcorn and chatting during the game.
We went to Mellow Mushroom after the game for some pizza then headed back to the pool to swim before bed. We were scheduled for another 8am game on Sunday morning but it rained so hard during the night that the fields closed. They pushed Patrick's game back to 1pm on a turf field. Unfortunately, Michael, Conor and Peyton had to head back to Nashville for more basketball and didn't get to watch the final game. I felt so bad for them that they drove all the way to Birmingham and only were able to watch half of a game!
The boys played a great third game and ended up winning their division. We were disappointed that the championship game was called off for rain but still very excited that they won their division! It was a great first travel weekend for Patrick!
