It was almost time for sunset by the time we got back into the park from picking up snacks. We drove to Keys View to get ready for the sunset. We were a little early, so we enjoyed some snacks and beverages in the car. I am so thankful we got there early because closer to sunset the parking lot was a crazy mess with tons and tons of people looking for parking.
Do you see Patrick down there. Seriously, the views are gorgeous!
It's just breathtaking!
I didn't really know what to expect from this park, but we were completely blown away. Pictures just aren't able tot capture it as well as when you are surrounded by huge rock formations and Dr. Seuss looking trees. It is straight out of a storybook! About 10 minutes into the first hike of the day I kept hearing the kids say "wow this is so cool," "can we seriously climb all of these rocks," and "thanks for taking us here, this is awesome!" There isn't greater praise from kids! After the gorgeous sunset, we headed back to Palm Springs to swim and eat dinner. It was an amazing day!
The next night we decided to try and come back for stargazing. After a day full of activities in Palm Springs, we drove the 30 minutes to Joshua tree and ate dinner at the Joshua Tree Saloon. It was a great atmosphere and good food.
Unfortunately the moon was so full we didn't see any stars! It was very peaceful out there and I can imagine it would be really fun to camp at Joshua Tree. We were a little taken by surprise when a coyote ran right by us though!
Joshua Tree was so much fun and I am so glad we decided to go! It definitely made us eager to visit more national parks!
