Patrick had his first soccer game on Saturday. A few days before the game we found out that his game was the last game of the day at 12:30pm. We had already planned Peyton's birthday party at our house that afternoon, so logistically it was going to be really tight to make it to both and be ready for the party in time. So we got everything ready for Peyton's party that we could beforehand so we could all enjoy Patrick's first game.
Unfortunately, it rained the day they were supposed to have practice so we got to the game 30 minutes early to meet his team, get uniforms, etc. Patrick was so nervous and cried during the whole practice and kept saying he wanted to go home. When we got back in the car to go to the other side of the church for the game, he said he was just really shy but still wanted to play in the game. Phew!
His team is bright pink and mostly girls, so I was a little nervous about how it would go. But it turns out that most of the girls were on the sidelines because they didn't want to play, so Patrick got to play a lot. Since he didn't have practice I didn't know if he would know what to do (he has taken a few soccer practices at BOOST fit club, but it was just for fun and mostly just running around) But, he did great! We had to yell a couple of times that he was kicking the soccer ball towards the wrong goal, but he heard us and always changed directions. He even scored his first goal! He went coast to coast and it was AMAZING! I was so proud of him! He jumped up and down after he scored and was so excited that he ran over to the sidelines to give dad, Mark and Gene a high five. His team scored two goals this game, which was more than I expected they would score without practicing.
He had a big crowd for his first game…mom, dad, Peyton, Conor, Uncle Mark, Nana and Grumps all made it. Pretty sure we were the only parents yelling on the sidelines (only nice things of course!)
Patrick is number three running towards his first goal!
GOAL! He scored at the opposite side of the field as me, so you can't see his face. I didn't want to be the crazy soccer mom at the first game running down the sidelines to get a picture of his goal! Maybe next time :)
High fives after his big goal
He is fast, so he got a chance to break away from the pack and kick the ball a few times
Team huddle
Patrick's biggest fan! Hard to keep this little guy off the field.
It was freezing at the game because of the wind, so we had to hold Peyton and Conor for most of the game.

So proud of my big boy! Definitely fun to watch his first sporting event. With three boys, I am pretty sure we will be on some sort of field or at a basketball court, etc. for many more Saturdays to come and that makes me so excited! I wouldn't want to spend my Saturday's anywhere else!
