Northeast Summer Vacation- Bar Harbor/Acadia (Part 5)

Michael and I decided to start our morning with a sunrise from our hotel room. Acadia is one of the first places in the U.S. that you can see the sunrise and we had a perfect view from our room. We set our alarm for 4:30am. We were a little late, but still caught a gorgeous sunrise.

We went back to bed for a couple hours, grabbed some breakfast and then set out for a mid morning hike. We decided to hike Gorham Mountain to Cadillac Cliffs. It was a little more difficult than we thought! It had a lot of rock climbing. The kids did fine and Caitie loved finding all of the markers to see where the trail was going to lead us.

After the hike we headed back to the hotel to change for lunch. We decided to walk next door to Stewman's Lobster Pound. We were all excited for some lobster!

Michael got a whole lobster. I'm not sure he would do that again. He wasn't fond of tearing it apart and see the insides. Caitie was also very concerned that he ate one of the lobsters from the cages out front.

And of course we had to get some Whoopie Pie's and Wild Maine Blueberry Pie for dessert. We are still dreaming of all the fresh blueberries! We ate our weight in blueberries while we were in Maine and everyone loved them.

We walked back to the hotel to go tide pooling next. The kids absolutely loved tide pooling. They loved finding all of the crabs, mussels and shells.

After tide pooling we headed to Cadillac Mountain for our reservations for sunset. Cadillac Mountain is typically a sunrise spot, so we had trouble finding a good spot from the top. We drove down the mountain a little bit and found the perfect spot to watch the sunset. We brought our cooler and had the place to ourselves. It was awesome! Definitely one of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen.

We ended the night in the hot tub overlooking the gorgeous sky full of so many stars. Such a perfect day!
