Turk and Bailey had their 4 year check-up yesterday and they both looked great!
The vet referred to this big boy as a "lean mean Bassett machine." Turk has lost about 15 pounds since his last check-up and he is now at his optimal, healthy weight! He now weighs 80 pounds. I think most of his weight loss is due to walks with Big, which is Turk's favorite thing in the world!
Last week I pulled a live enormous tick out of Turk's eye. Yes, out of his eye! It was beyond gross and took me about two hours for fear I would poke his eye out! Well, it turns out that he tested positive from that tick bite. The vet does not think he has an infection from the tick, but just had an exposure to the tick. We are supposed to be on the lookout for signs that he does have an infection. Hopefully, he will be just fine!
This pretty girl weighed in at 65 pounds and is as healthy as can be. She doesn't seem to get near as many ticks as Turk, so she tested negative for exposure to ticks.
Turk and Bailey have been so great this spring and summer! They really had trouble when Patrick joined our family, but have adjusted to Peyton really well! Love these sweet dogs and can't imagine our life without them!
