The plan for our first day in Zion was to go on a few hikes. While Michael and I were preparing for the hike, I walked out to this precious little view.
We hiked the Canyon Overlook trail in the morning. It was a gorgeous hike with the best views!
It was packed up there but the overlook is pretty large, so it felt like we had a little bit of it to ourselves.
The views were so pretty that we tried to soak it all up.
After the hike we went to the Zion Brewpub for some lunch. It was really delicious! Then we attempted for a long time to find a parking spot in the visitors center of Zion. For every hike on this side of the park (besides the canyon overlook hike) you have to park and take a shuttle. We were not expecting Zion to be so crowded! The line for the shuttle was so long it took about 45 minutes. It felt a little bit like the line for a Disney World ride!
Once we got up into the park we explored the Zion National Park Lodge and hiked the Emerald Pools trail. Zion received record rainfall this year so the waterfalls were really flowing! The waterfalls were so great that I think everyone else in the park wanted to do this hike and it was jam-packed. Almost shoulder to shoulder people. It was a gorgeous hike, but took a while because of the amount of crowds on the hike.
Lower Emerald Pools. We were soaked after walking under this waterfall!
Upper Emerald Pools
We loved seeing the 4 waterfalls from a distance!
After the hike we went to dinner at The Spotted Dog Cafe. It was delicious!
We were excited for a big day of adventure tomorrow!
