We checked out of our villa and then headed towards the visitors center for our last hike in Zion. We stayed at Mountain of the Sun villa at Lafave. It was a great location and a really nice villa.
For our last morning in Zion we decided to take the shuttle to hike the Riverside Walk to the narrows. The narrows was closed for too much rain and snow melt, but we still thought it would be fun to see the start of the narrows. The hike is along the Virgin river and is really pretty between the canyons.
The rangers all said that it was extremely unusual to see so many waterfalls along the canyon walls. The park had record rain this year and it was gorgeous just driving through the park and seeing all the beautiful waterfalls.
The start of the narrows! Hopefully one day we could go back and hike the narrows. I think it would be a really cool experience!
We decided to stop at Costco on the way to Death Valley to pick up some water and snacks. We had heard the park was pretty remote and we thought this would be helpful. We saw that there was a national monument site on our way and decided to stop at Tulle Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. Unfortunately this had just been named a national monument and didn't have anything set up yet. We still had to document our visit though!
We drove the few hours to the Inn at Death Valley and checked in that night! We tried to find a place to eat on the way in and watch the basketball game, but we had no luck at all! We could not find a place that kids could eat that had a T.V. We were a little bummed not to be able to watch it, but excited that the Vols won.
When we arrived we also discovered that the Inn had a water main break and they did not have any water in the inn. Luckily we were staying in a casita which was on different water and we did have water. We were excited to start exploring Death Valley in the morning!
