We had a slow morning at Under Canvas and then drove 45 minutes towards the North entrance of Yellowstone National Park. We stopped at Yellowstone perk for some smoothies and breakfast sandwiches. It is right by the entrance and really delicious.
Then we explored a little bit of Mammoth Hot Springs. We walked the boardwalk loop which is a 1.75 mile loop.
We had a fun time exploring Mammoth Hot Springs. Really cool to see all the hot springs.
We had a few minutes before our whitewater rafting adventure, so we stopped at the Corral. The kids split huckleberry milkshakes and cheese curds. It was delicious.
Then it was time for the whitewater rafting. We were all a little nervous, but excited. It was hard carrying the raft down an enormous hill to start. We also had a safety talk which kind of scared us all! But, we got out there and had a blast.
Right before Michael and our guide almost fell out of the raft because it tipped sideways! Luckily they hung on. I wouldn't have known what to do if they both fell out!
Sweet little Conor attempted to "Ride the Bull" which means sitting on the very front of the raft with your legs dangling in the water. However, he got nervous when we hit a wave and dove back into the boat. So you can barely see him in this picture. Caitie and Peyton both got chances to "Ride the Bull" and they loved it! Caitie thought it was so exciting!
After the whitewater rafting, the kids were begging to go back to the Corral and have another huckleberry milkshake (since they split the first time). So we stopped back in and let them get a drink.
As we were walking back to the Corral we walked right beside a momma Elk and her baby. The mom continued to follow us down the whole sidewalk. It was quite scary.
Then we headed back to Under Canvas to hang out, swim in the creek and eat dinner. The kids were excited about playing with the friends they had met the night before.
We had some friends that happened to be staying there the nights we were!
It was such a relaxing night roasting s'mores by the fire and letting the kids play in the field with other kids. Under Canvas really was such a fun experience!
