Our Beloved Turk

Well, it's taken me a very long time to sit down and write this post about our precious Turk...

On August 17, 2017 our sweet Turk somehow managed to squeeze through a tiny opening in the fence with his sister Bailey. They got out early in the morning when I was dropping Patrick off at school. I tried to look around for them, but heard them both up in the woods. I knew I couldn't hike up in the woods with 2 little kids while pregnant, so I left them to their own for a little while. They have gotten out numerous times before and always made it home. It was a hot day, so I figured they would chase deer for a little while and then come home.

Around 1pm, I saw a post on the NextDoor app that someone had located Bailey. The dogs normally stick together, so I was a little worried that no one had seen Turk. I went to pick her up and put her in the house. It was time to pick up Patrick from school, so we headed to go get Patrick. We spent a good portion of the afternoon driving around looking for Turk. There was absolutely no sign of him. There was a big rainstorm coming, so my dad, Michael and I all looked for Turk that night. He hates the rain, so I was very surprised he didn't make it home.

We hung signs offering a $1000 reward, joined every single missing pet group on facebook, searched craigslist and searched pet rescues and nothing turned up. About a week after Turk went missing, we decided we needed to know what happened to the big guy. So we decided to hire a dog tracker. All of her dogs tracked Turk to a Sonic on Old Hickory Boulevard. We requested video surveillance, but the video was focused on employees (to catch any employee fraud) and did not show customers. We were unable to get any leads from the surrounding stores either.

We have searched for months and spent countless hours trying to find him. We pray that someone who really needed him took him and is loving him just as much as we do. We love you Turk and we miss you like crazy.

Here is a little trip down memory lane of our big guy.

The day we adopted the puppies. They are seriously adorable.

We gained another little one in the house! The dogs were pretty confused about their new sibling!

Turk got lost in a snowstorm and got in a fight with a Coyote. The vet thinks he was protecting his sister, because it looks like he was trying to run away when he got attacked. It required a drain and a lot of stitches. We spared him the cone of shame and opted for a XXL preds t-shirt.

Going on one of their many walks with Big or "whose that."

The last picture of I have of these sweet pups together. Love them so!

Turk, I pray that we will find you safe and sound one day. We love you Turk!
