Soccer- Vestavia Invitational

Patrick was invited to play in the Vestavia Invitational Tournament in Birmingham last weekend. His team had an 8am game on Saturday morning so Patrick, Caitie and I drove down late on Friday night.  It was an extremely cold weekend, so we bundled up with our hand warmers and headed out to the 8am game.

They won their first game 3-1 which was a great start to the tournament.

Our next game wasn't until 5pm so we had a lot of time to kill in between. We went to lunch and got Patrick a haircut. Then we swam in the heated pool in the afternoon.

The next game was at 5pm and we played a tough team. The game ended with no goals for either team and we got a tie. Michael, Peyton and Conor showed up halfway through the game to cheer Patrick on.  These sweet little girls had a blast eating popcorn and chatting during the game.

We went to Mellow Mushroom after the game for some pizza then headed back to the pool to swim before bed. We were scheduled for another 8am game on Sunday morning but it rained so hard during the night that the fields closed.  They pushed Patrick's game back to 1pm on a turf field. Unfortunately, Michael, Conor and Peyton had to head back to Nashville for more basketball and didn't get to watch the final game. I felt so bad for them that they drove all the way to Birmingham and only were able to watch half of a game!

The boys played a great third game and ended up winning their division. We were disappointed that the championship game was called off for rain but still very excited that they won their division! It was a great first travel weekend for Patrick!

Caitie's Special Day at School

Caitie had her special day at school yesterday. She was so excited to have her big brothers read to her!

She begged to take a tiara for her special day. Luckily her teacher went along with her request!

Glad you had such a great special day, Caitie!

Caitie's 4th Birthday

The weekend of Caitie's birthday was also President's Day. The boys had off Friday and Monday from school and we had thought about traveling somewhere for the long weekend.  The boys had a few basketball games so we decided against it. Caitie was also so excited to have her school tiger with her for the weekend!

On Saturday we spent the whole day in a gym. This sweet girl is always so supportive spending hours in a gym watching her big brothers play.

After all of the games we headed to Sam's for a little impromptu birthday dinner for Caitie. We didn't even bring any candles and used a match for a single candle. She declared it the best birthday dinner ever!

We ended up staying up really late with friends on Saturday night and woke up a little late on Sunday morning. We had donuts for Caitie's birthday and then packed for Opryland for the night. Our plan was to go to winterfest at Opryland and just explore the resort.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we walked around Opryland and explored.

We had a room with a great view!

We went ice skating and ice tubing. The kids had such an awesome time.

We were so tired and headed back to the room for a late afternoon nap!

After naps we went to the indoor pool and hot tub for a little swim before dinner. Then we got all dolled up for dinner! Caitie was so excited to wear her new princess dress!

The bumper cars were open tonight and the kids were so excited!

Time for bed after a really fun day!

The next morning we headed to Caitie's first haircut! She was SO excited!

She loved every minute of it! She grinned ear to ear the entire time. It was the cutest thing ever!

After the haircut we went to brunch across the street at Cracker Barrel. All of the hotel restaurants were an hour wait. We still enjoyed it!

We went back to the hotel to do the Winterfest scavenger hunt. It was a cute little scavenger hunt and the kids got a prize at the end. Caitie just had fun twirling in her dress and having everyone tell her happy birthday!

We headed back home mid-afternoon after a really fun couple days at Opryland. We also found this surprise in the front yard for Caitie. We still have no idea who did it!

Happy 4th birthday precious girl! We love you to the moon and back!
