New Job

Michael accepted a new job with PWC last week! I am so excited for him!! I know it was a really tough decision and one that he really struggled with. He loves the people he works with, so I know he will really miss it. I can't believe we will both be working in public accounting! PWC and E&Y are probably the biggest rivals in public accounting, so it should be interesting competing against my husband for work. Michael told me that the partner at PWC asked him how he would feel about it in his interview. I'm not sure what he said or how he convinced the partner that it would work out, but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to overhear that conversation.

I think this is the right decision for Michael's long-term career, but its going to be tough in the short-run for us. Michael's commute is significantly increasing and since PWC is just establishing in Nashville, it will probably mean a lot of long hours with a lot of sales meetings. Not to mention that we will now have the exact same busy season. eeek! Allie and Nana, I hope you two are up for a lot of babysitting next fall! We are going to need all the help we can get!

Michael, I am so excited about your new opportunity and I know it is going to work out great for you!

I think Patrick is excited too :)

Patrick's 6 Month Photos

We had Patrick's 6 month photoshoot at Percy Warner and it was such a pretty day. Patrick missed his nap that day so he wasn't in the best mood, but the pictures still turned out great! He started crying whenever Michael or I put him down, so we didn't get that many pictures of him by himself. I feel like babies know when you are going to take pictures of them and decide its going to be their only fussy day! Oh well! Below are my favorites.

He loves riding on Michael's shoulders.

Can you see his two little chompers in this picture? So cute!

Still working on sitting up by himself

I am in love with his blue eyes!

This pictures looks exactly like Michael! I can't get over it!

Time to Babyproof!

Patrick is crawling, pulling up and his third tooth just broke through! I can't update the blog fast enough for all the new things he is doing!!

Last Sunday night, Michael and I were eating dinner in the kitchen while Patrick was playing on the floor in the living room. We saw a ball roll right in front of Michael's feet and Patrick speed crawling after it. We were shocked! He had been rocking on his hands and feet and trying to crawl, but I had no idea crawling would be so close! He can't even really sit up on his own yet, so I was really surprised he can already crawl! Apparently Michael was a fast crawler and walked at 9 month, so we will see if Patrick is an early walker too! He seems to be hitting every milestone out of the normal order....rolling from his back to his front first and also crawling and pulling up before sitting up. So funny!

I had to post this video too just to show how much Patrick loves cups. If he is fussy, you can give him a cup and he loves it. So funny that you can buy all these expensive toys for him to play with and all he really wants to play with is a cup. He thinks its really fun to imitate Michael and I and try to drink out of it. The cup covers his entire face when he tilts it like he is drinking out of it.

Patrick also loves to crawl after shoes, cell phones and remote controllers. Everything we don't want him to have!

I heard Patrick stirring in his crib after his afternoon nap and saw that he was trying to pull up.

I ran in there with my cell phone in hopes that I would be able to catch his first pull up on camera. Look at how proud of himself he is!

This little boy just melts my heart!

All the way up on his first try! Way to go big boy!

I immediately grabbed him after this picture and Michael lowered the crib for his next nap. Yikes!

He can get into all kinds of things now that he can crawl!

It got a little cold this week so we had to bundle up to go to school!

Ready to watch some football!

What a cutie!

Patrick has also started raising his hands for Michael or I to pick him up. He has started doing it a lot on the days we work. It's adorable! However, he gets frustrated if you don't pick him up immediately after he raises his hands. Uh oh! I believe I have a stubborn little one!

Michael and I also went to the Yazoo Brewery this week for a UT Alumni event. I had never been to a brewery, so it was fun to take a tour and try out some of the beers. After the Brewery, we went to Urban Flats for dinner. It's been a while since I have been to a restaurant without Patrick, so it was nice to take my time eating dinner without the little guy trying to grab everything I am eating :) Not that I don't love it when Patrick joins us, but it's nice just Michael and I every once in a while!

Gentry's Farm

We went to Gentry's farm this weekend and it was so cute. I knew Patrick wouldn't appreciate it this year, but I thought it would be fun to go and check it out. He had a great time looking at all of the kids and picking out his own pumpkin!

Walking through the pumpkin patch searching for the perfect pumpkin to pick

We found one!

Heading to pick out some orange pumpkins

Patrick got to pick out his own "Patrick-sized" pumpkin

He decided on this pumpkin

and didn't want us to take it from him

We didn't venture into the kids section, since I knew Patrick wouldn't be able to do any of it. Can't wait for next year so we can try it all out!

Funny Moments

Patrick has really started to show his personality lately and I just love it! There have been so many funny moments lately, but I wanted to share a few of them that I thought were pretty funny.

The other night I was holding Patrick while getting my dinner ready. I got the Ketchup bottle out and noticed it was almost empty, so I gave it a good squeeze. It made a fart-like noise as it came out of the bottle and Patrick started giggling like crazy. I wasn't sure what he was laughing about, but then I did it again and he started laughing so hard. I wish I had it on video! I can just imagine Michael doing the same thing as a kid!

Patrick has also started to make his own fart noises that he thinks are really funny. Michael always makes those noises and faces at Patrick and Patrick has started imitating him. I haven't been able to get it on video yet, but i'll try and post it soon!

When I went to Patrick's 6 month doctor's appointment the doctor asked if Patrick was turning his head when his name was called. Michael's affectionate name for Patrick is "hambone" or "p diddy" and I was too embarrassed to tell the doctor that he only responds to those names! I guess we need to correct that, and soon!

Thought I would share another funny parenting moment from last weekend. Michael had a rough day with Patrick on Saturday since he cried most of the day while I was at Holli's wedding. Patrick was teething and just not feeling well that day. He hardly ever cries so I was was upset that I couldn't help out and that he wasn't happy for Michael. Michael had tried everything and nothing seemed to work. So needless to say, Michael was really tired on Sunday when we drove home. I normally sit in the back with Patrick and try and entertain him since he hates the car so much. I had brought a bagel for the car ride down, but had forgotten about the car ride back. It's a 5 hour drive, so it's a long time to entertain a child who hates the car! Patrick was starting to cry and Michael was still pretty upset about him crying all day the day before. We were driving down 280 in the middle of Alabama and Michael asked me if I had brought a bagel for the car ride home (Patrick loves bagels and they seem to entertain him for a long time). I replied "no, but if you see a bagel shop pull over so we can get one." His response was classic.... "Minje, Billy Bob isn't going to open a bagel shop, he is going to open a bacon place. Only people in municipalities eat bagels." Haha! You could just hear the desperation in his voice! He had put all of his energy into trying to soothe Patrick from crying from teething the day before, and I knew he couldn't take much more crying! Luckily, Patrick will sometimes forget he is in the car if you sing and dance around so I tried to entertain him as much as I could so we didn't have too much more crying! Parenting really is a team effort!

A few pictures from the week:

Haha, I love this picture. So cautiously trying to eat it

So happy

Holli's Wedding Weekend

This weekend was my college roommates wedding at Lake Martin (near Auburn). I have been so excited about seeing Holli and Brooke, which are my two best friends from college! Brooke just found out she is having a little boy in March and it was Holli's wedding weekend, so there was so much to celebrate! I was a little nervous about the drive, since Patrick hates the car so much, but he did okay and there was not too much crying in the car. The doctor told me I could start giving him teething crackers, bagels, pizza crust or anything bready. I decided the car ride would be the perfect time for Patrick to try a bagel. He loved it! Anything that keeps him entertained in the car for 30 minutes is an enormous success!! It kept me entertained as well! He was so funny to watch! He put the bagel in his mouth and then pulled it out really quickly with this puzzled look on his face. Then he started to lick it and look at me with an amazed look on his face! Then he started chomping away on it! Who knew bagels could be so exciting?

On Thursday night there was a shrimp boil, which was so good! Unfortunately the family pic was too dark and didn't turn out. However, I did get a good one of Michael and Patrick. Look at that view!

Then the lingerie shower

On Friday we had the bridesmaid's luncheon, which was so yummy!

All the bridesmaids

On Friday night was the rehearsal dinner which was at a really cute little restaurant. My parents came in town to go to the wedding and watch Patrick on Friday night so we could go to the rehearsal dinner.

All of the bridesmaids with the bride

The lady taking the picture wanted us to do a prom pose, which we were not thrilled about. Unfortunately it was the only pic I got of the three of us, so I had to post this cheesy picture.

And finally the wedding was on Saturday! Everything was so beautiful! The ceremony was at an outside church on the lake and the reception was at an adorable restaurant.

The happy couple

The weather was perfect, so we sat outside and listened to the band all night

Patrick has learned how to suck on his thumb.

Hanging out with Big and Allie. Patrick was amazed by all the lights, so getting him to look at the camera was impossible

On Saturday, Michael kept Patrick all day while I helped the bride get ready and take pictures. Unfortunately, it was a rough day for both of them because Patrick got his first tooth that day! Patrick ended up crying for most of the day because his teeth hurt so bad. We were glad to get back to Nashville on Sunday so Patrick could get back into his routine!
