LegoLand Discovery Atlanta - Part 1

For Memorial Day week we made our annual trip to Isle of Palms near Charleston, South Carolina. Flights were ridiculously priced so we decided we would drive this year. It is typically about a 9 hour drive, which is very long for 3 small children. We decided to stop in Atlanta to make the trip more manageable. The hotel where we were staying included free LegoLand Discovery tickets. So, we decided to play at LegoLand for a few hours in the morning and then drive from Atlanta to Charleston during the boys naps. It worked out really well and I am so glad we decided to give it a try.

LegoLand Discovery Atlanta is in the Phipps mall and is so cute. The boys really love legos so they had a blast. It's not huge, but it was definitely enough to keep the boys entertained and wear them out a little before our drive.

We were not sure how easy it would be to find parking, so we took the 2 minute shuttle from the hotel to Phipps plaza. We ended up being 35 minutes early.  We had time to take a few pictures outside of LegoLand.

One of my favorite pictures of these two!

My two little guys

We were one of the first into LegoLand. The first room was sort of pointless and nothing really worked in there. The boys took a quick picture and we moved on to the other fun things to do.

Next up was Miniland Atlanta. It is a mini Atlanta made out of Legos. It changes from day to night and I thought it was really cool. The boys enjoyed it for a few minutes, but it didn't really hold their attention for very long.

Peyton does not seem as impressed as I was

Next we headed for the main ride at LegoLand, Kingdom Quest. It is a cute little ride with laser guns. Patrick and Peyton had fun "shooting the bad guys."  We also rode the other ride, Merlin's Apprentice, but both the big boys were not really fond of the ride. They were not tall enough to reach the pedals, so they were a little frustrated.

After the ride, the boys headed straight for the new play area, Pirate Adventure Island. It is a large play area and also has a water area.

Patrick ran around so fast I could barely get any pictures of him!

Conor loved playing in the water

Racing boats down the water

There was also a play area for the little ones

Peyton had the most fun building cars and racing them down the tracks. Patrick got a little frustrated that he couldn't find the right pieces for the car.

A little video of Peyton racing cars

Johnny Rockets was right outside of LegoLand, so we had a quick lunch before heading on the road to Charleston

One last picture at LegoLand

Next up is the beach!
