Denton's Engagement

The day before New Year's Eve, my dad called and told me that John was proposing to Denton on the beach in Sarasota. He had invited us to come and celebrate with them. My parents had already gotten a hotel room and a flight down there. I definitely didn't want to miss out on such a big event in Denton's life so Michael offered to watch the kids (since getting a babysitter at 4:30am on New Years Day wasn't possible!) while I went to Florida for a night. My parents picked me up at 4:50am on New Years Day...yikes!

The plan was for John to propose to Denton on the beach on their morning bike ride and then we would surprise her at brunch. She texted us this picture when we were about 30 minutes away from the brunch spot. She had no idea we were on the way!

Brunch was really delicious and it was a gorgeous spot overlooking the water

After brunch we checked into the hotel changed into swimsuits and took a walk along the beach. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. After a couple hours on the beach we headed to John's sister in law's family's house. We watched the sunset on the beach and it was beautiful. Then we had a barbecue at their house. We also went out for milkshakes afterwards. Such a fun day celebrating Denton and John.

So excited for them! After 7 years together they are finally engaged :)

Such a pretty sunset

The next day we had breakfast and then headed to the beach for a couple more hours before I needed to head back to the airport.

I had such a good time celebrating Denton and John! I have only spent 1 night away from Conor since he has been born, so this was the perfect excuse for another night away from my little buddy! There's not many that are willing to party all night with my little firecracker!

I did have a little trouble getting back home though! My flight was originally scheduled to land at 5:30pm, but ended up landing at 8:30pm. I had about 5 hours to kill in the airport on the way back. My credit card number was also stolen by the cab driver that drove me the hour and a half from Sarasota to Tampa International. I'm assuming he took a picture of my credit card while he was swiping it on his square. I woke up the next morning to a flurry of charges on that credit card. Luckily Michael is on top of it and cancelled it before I had even finished my morning coffee :)

Congrats Denton and John! We are so excited for you!
