Stones River National Battlefield and Murfee Springs Discovery Center

We decided to head to Murfreesboro to go to the Murfee Springs Discovery Center. Before we left Patrick asked if Stones River National Battlefield was close. It was only about 10 minutes away so we decided to head there before the discovery center.

We stopped at the visitors center first. She gave us a great recommendation for a shaded trail to try out.

I was so hot that we didn't hike very far, but we enjoyed the pretty scenery.

Since it was record breaking heat, we decided to do the audio car tour of the park. We stopped at a few sights and listened to the audio through the car.

It was a fun educational stop. Patrick was pretty excited about adding another national park site to his book. Then we headed to lunch and the discovery center.

The big boys were ready to leave after a couple hours, but I think Caitie could have stayed all day long. It is perfect for toddlers! We didn't explore any of the wetlends outside as it was just so brutally hot. I would love to come back with Caitie and explore in the fall!
