Spring Break 2023 Southwest Road Trip- Death Valley National Park

We headed out mid-morning to look at a few of the famous spots in Death Valley National Park. It was gorgeous weather for our first morning in Death Valley. Our first stop was Devil's Golf Course. We pretty much had the spot to ourselves. We warned the kids that it was very sharp and if they fell they would injure themselves. We didn't stay long since the ground was so sharp, but we really enjoyed the gorgeous views!

Beautiful backdrop with the snow topped mountains.

We headed to the Natural Bridge Canyon hike next. It's a short one mile hike and we really enjoyed it.

We were able to enjoy the natural bridge without any others around, so it was really nice.

Our next stop was badwater basin, which is the lowest point in the United States. The area is so flat that the walk out to the salt flats looked really short, but it ended up being about 2 miles!

The kids thought it was cool that the ground tasted like table salt. Only a couple of the kids would lick it!  There is a small pool near the entrance that has water. The reason for the name of Badwater Basin is because a rider with a horse tried to get his horse to drink the water and the horse refused. The water was too salty to drink, hence the name "Badwater."

It was soo pretty out there! I'm glad we went in the spring. I can't imagine how hot it is in the summer!

Michael had to make a few work calls, so we headed back to the casita. The kids and I decided to go swimming while Michael worked a little bit.

Even though the Inn did not have water, the pool was safe to swim in because it is naturally fed from a hot spring!

The grounds at the resort are beautiful.

After the swim we ate at the Last Kind Words Saloon. There are not many places to eat in Death Valley, so everything is really expensive and really packed! They specialize in Steak dinners, but since it was Friday we had to find something without meat. It was a little bit of a challenge!

After dinner we decided to go stargazing. The hotel has a special deck that is meant just for stargazing. We took this tunnel underneath the hotel which was kind of fun! It was a gorgeous night for stargazing!

Off to sleep for another fun day in Death Valley.
