This year for Easter we decided to go to Yosemite National Park. The kids normally don't have sports commitments on Easter weekend so we thought it would be a good time to go. Unfortunately, there were so many rainouts this year that all of the kids ended up having sports. They were kind of bummed to miss, but we were determined to have a good time anyway! We flew into San Jose late on Thursday night and made the three hour drive to Yosemite National Park. We arrived around 1am and were exhausted after a long travel day.
We slept in the next morning and the kids woke up to find a really cool playground right outside our cabin. They were so excited.
So many games to play. They had shuffleboard, cornhole, checkers, chess and lots more!
And there was a great indoor playground too.
After breakfast at the lodge we headed into the park. We had to get a picture with the sign. This is our 18th National Park as a family.
Our first hike in the park was Tuolomne Grove hike. It is a 2.5 mile roundtrip easy hike through giant Sequoia trees.
The pinecones and trees were so large. It is really hard to capture the size of them in pictures!
There were a lot of trees across the middle of the trail. It provided lots of opportunities for a balance beam walk or jumping and climbing for the kids.
The hike was the perfect way to start our first day in the park. It was also at the very beginning of the park, so we had a nice little hike before driving into the valley. On the way in, we stopped at a gorgeous viewpoint.
We were all pretty hungry after the first hike, so we found a parking spot in Curry Village and ordered pizza from The Pizza Deck and drinks and fries from Bar 1899 and ate on a picnic table outside. It was Good Friday so we couldn't eat meat and this was the perfect meal. It was gorgeous outside and we sat and enjoyed the weather for a long time!
We walked from Curry Village to the Lower Yosemite Falls trail. It's an easy hike to the most beautiful waterfall!
Definitely getting wet in this picture. The waterfall was really powerful, so we got mist from really far back!
Right next to Lower Yosemite falls there was this great little area where lots of kids were playing. They had a natural see saw and huge boulders to climb on. There was also a boulder that had a natural slide and the kids went down it numerous times! They spent a long time just playing.
