2018 Cross Country Season

We wrapped up cross country on Sunday. It was such a successful season for both boys!

It was Peyton's first season running. Peyton did so well! He absolutely loved the practices after school running with his friends, but was a little nervous before the meets. I will be interested to see if he decides to run again next year.

Peyton's kindergarten team

It was Patrick's third season running and he absolutely loves it. It was so fun watching him compete in a sport that he excels in and loves so much. I found myself being really nervous watching him because I know how badly he wants to do well. I have no doubts we will be cheering him on in cross country meets for years to come. He is already excited to run a mile in the 3rd grade :)

Unfortunately there were only two meets this year. The other two meets were rained out. The first meet was perfect weather. It was cloudy and not very hot. However, the championship meet was miserbly hot. I actually felt bad for the runners, because I was sweating just standing there watching.

Both boys run 3/4 of a mile. The kindergarten boys run together and then the 1st and 2nd grade boys run together. There were about 90 kindergarten boys running in Peyton's race and a little over 150 boys running in Patrick's race.

The top 20 runners receive place ribbons. I was thrilled to have both boys place in the championship! Amazing!

Both boys were very consistent in their running times this year. They both tried so hard and were very competitive. Patrick really improved this year. We were all amazed when he battled for first place in the opening meet. He won by an inch and really pushed himself at the end to take the lead. He ran so hard that he threw up on the sidelines. We had to remind him after the first meet that he just needed to try his best, but didn't need to make himself sick trying to win. Although I do appreciate his competitive spirit!

Leading the pack out of the gate

In the home stretch. Love seeing his three coaches cheering him on!

About to make his move. Love his long stride!

The flag football team asked to take a picture with Patrick after his big win!

Family picture after Patrick's big win! Conor is in the stroller and I don't blame him....it was hot!!

Way to go boys! We are so proud of you!
