Fall Break 2018- Seagrove Beach and Orange Beach (Part 2)

We arrived in Seagrove late afternoon on Sunday to our adorable little house called "Mellow Yellow." It was a great house and perfect for our family.

Here's a picture of the family room

After we arrived, we swam in the pool and played with friends for the afternoon. There were a few other families on the street that we knew, so we grilled out for dinner that night.

The next morning we woke up and took it easy. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the porch with this precious cutie.

When you have three older brothers your toys pretty much consist of footballs, tennis balls and baseballs :)

These two boys were being goofballs waiting to go to the beach

Mid-morning we decided to try the beach out. The beach is across the street and just a short walk from the house. Unfortunately there was a red tide at the beach this year. It didn't bother some people too badly, but my family was pretty affected by it. Once we made it to the beach we were all coughing non-stop. When a breeze would come through, the entire beach would start coughing. There was also dead fish everywhere. It was not enjoyable and I was worried about Caitie, so we only stayed on the beach for a few minutes.

Her eyelashes are just gorgeous

When we got back to the house, we discovered that Hurricane Michael was quickly moving towards us and that it was a Category 3 hurricane. Michael and I were nervous about staying with the kids during a hurricane, so we started thinking about other options. We swam at the pool for the rest of the afternoon and tried to decide on a plan of action for the rest of the trip.  It was a beautiful day so it was hard to believe that a hurricane was headed our way.

The kids played some games at our house for a little while and then we swam in the afternoon.

Around 6pm we got notification that it was going to be a mandatory evacuation and we had to be out of the house at 10am. We had already decided that we would find somewhere else to go, but this definitely made it more urgent. Michael and another dad did an amazing job finding a great place for us to stay in Orange Beach. We left at 4am to beat all of the traffic. We arrived in Orange Beach around 6:30am. We couldn't get into the condo yet, so we decided to go to breakfast at Tacky Jack's. We were there right when it opened.

The restaurant had some beautiful views

The pancakes were huge!

Our room wasn't going to be ready until 4pm, so we changed in the bathroom and swam at the pool until dark! It was such a great place for the kids. They went down the slide a hundred times and swam all afternoon.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast on the balcony

The view from the balcony. It's hard to tell, but the waves were HUGE with the hurricane coming in.

We were expecting awful weather since the hurricane was hitting a couple hours away from us. But, all we got was a bunch of wind. The wind did not seem to bother the kids at all! We ended up with 22 kids from Nashville hanging at the pool. It was a fun day!

Sweet girl grew her top two teeth while we were on vacation. She was a little clingy, but she did such a good job with all the chaos. She is such a champ!

Can you see the trees moving in this picture? It was crazy wind!

Some of the crew going down the slide

Too much fun for this little guy!

And the whole crew

The next day we headed to the beach. This place wasn't very convenient to the beach since it was on the bay. But, we wanted to be far away from the beach in case the hurricane did get close to us.

My four little ones

She's my buddy

This little girl is spoiled rotten

So gorgeous. Some of the prettiest sunsets

The next day we headed over to the other part of the resort to the lazy river. The water was pretty cold today, so the kids hung out in the hot tub some.

Love these girls

We headed to the beach late afternoon and caught one of the most gorgeous sunsets again.

We had the most fun stay with these two couples. The kids were in heaven having a sleepover with their good friends. Love this crew!

And my fam

And another overload of Caitie pictures. I just can't handle her cuteness. Love this stage SO much.

The girls

Flossin'

After the gorgeous sunset and beach walk, we headed back to the house to make spaghetti.

The next day it was time to head back to Nashville. We decided to swim for a few and have lunch, then leave around nap time for the little two.

And we are off!

Such a fun vacation!
