U.S. Space and Rocket Museum

We headed with Big to the U.S. Space and Rocket museum in Huntsville. We are members of the Adventure Science Center, so admission into the Space and Rocket museum is free. So we decided to try it out! It was a little farther than I had anticipated and the kids got a little antsy on the drive down.

They were eager to hop out of the car and see all the rockets.

We were there just a few days after the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. We decided to skip all the exhibits inside and head straight outside since the kids were still a little antsy.

Of course they wanted to ride the Lundar Lander about 5 times in a row.

After exploring outside we headed to the Saturn V hall. This was really the hit of the trip for the adults. We attempted to take a guided tour but it was too slow for the kids and they wanted to run around and explore instead.

This is an authentic Saturn V rocket. It is very impressive to walk under.

The kids were able to sit in the cockpit of the rocket.

Patrick and Peyton also had a great time climbing the rock wall. It was both of their first time and they both loved it. Peyton, my fearless little child, went first.

Patrick saw how much fun it was and tried the next time.

The boys and I also went in the HyperShip- Motion Based Simulator while Big hung with Caitie. It was fun, made me a little motion sick but nearly as bad as I had expected.

We had such a great time exploring the space center. They had a lot of great play areas for the kids. I will say that it was not layed out in a way that was easy to follow. We got lost a few times trying to find certain exhibits. We also noticed that most of the kids were a couple years older than Patrick, so that seems to be the prime age to visit. I do think the kids learned some fun facts and had a great time. I'm glad we went but will definitely be better prepared next time!
