Happy Birthday Patrick

How is Patrick already 4 years old?!? It has flown by!

We weren't able to celebrate on his actual birthday since Michael had a few work meetings he couldn't miss, so we had our special Patrick day on April 1st. Unfortunately, Peyton woke up with a fever so the day didn't go quite as we had planned. Patrick was really sweet about it and I think he ended up having a great day!

Our morning started off a little shaky because we couldn't take Peyton to school. After a couple hours to see if Peyton could handle it, we headed to donut den and the park as Patrick requested. Notice the powdered sugar all over his face from the donut holes we let him have on the way to the park :)

We played at the park for a little while and took a family selfie on the bench swing. Conor was sleeping for the family pic

Michael tried to teach Patrick how to swing himself, but Patrick wasn't understanding just yet

More swinging

Peyton's favorite park activity

After the park we had an hour to kill before Nana could watch Peyton. So we drove around and went through the car wash, which Patrick thought was so cool. Then we headed to the bouncy house. Patrick fell asleep for a few minutes on the way and had an accident in the car. We didn't realize until we were already at the bouncy house so we packed back up and had to go find some new clothes. We headed back to the bouncy house and were told they were closed for 3 hours during the middle of the day (strange, right?). So we headed to lunch before the bouncy house. Patrick wasn't hungry but was really patient while Michael and I ate. I was proud of him for all of the waiting he had done…definitely hard to wait to go to a bouncy house :)

Then we headed back to the bouncy house, seems like third time is a charm! It was worth it because we had the bouncy house all to ourselves and bounced for an hour and a half. Patrick was in heaven!

Big slide

Sweet Conor slept through most of the day but woke up and was surprised a little by the noise.  Aren't his eyes so expressive?

On April 2nd we had a little family party for Patrick. His friend birthday party isn't for a few more weeks, so we decided we needed to do something on the actually day. Michael cooked an awesome dinner for all the grandparents, aunts and uncles. Patrick loves ice cream so we decided to try an ice cream cake out this year. We asked if he wanted a car cake or a spiderman cake and to our surprise he chose a spiderman cake. I was really surprised!

This little guy loved watching all the fun

We opened some presents and the highlight of the gifts was definitely the stomp rocket. My sister captured a few videos below. The boys are clearly having a blast!

  1. Awww! It's sweet how you decided to spend Patrick's birthday by letting him have the both of you all to himself. The park seems like a fun alternative to having a party, and I'm sure the bouncy house was epic for him as well. Anyway, thanks for sharing all the fun with us! Happy fourth birthday to Patrick! :)
