Legoland Trip 2017

On Friday, we woke up and went to breakfast at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was delicious and probably the best brunch we have had at Disney. It was pretty crowded at the buffet and somehow I managed to miss the french toast bread pudding with some sort of incredible sauce. I did try a bit of Michael's and wished I had just gotten a whole plate of the bread pudding! The boys really enjoyed the pancakes and donuts too :)

Checking out the animals one more time before heading to Legoland

Hanging out in the lobby waiting on our car

We arrived! Our room wasn't quite ready, so we dropped off our things and headed the few steps towards the park.

We were able to make it to every ride on our first day at the park. We also stopped at all of the play areas. They really had great play areas at this park for the little kids who couldn't ride.

The boys both said that they really loved Legoland, but I have to warn you that as an adult it is incredibly frustrating. They are nowhere near as efficient as Disney World. There could only be a few people in line in front of you and it could take 30 minutes to get on the ride. I like to think that I am a pretty patient person and even I was getting a little frustrated waiting in the line seeing how slow it was progressing.

We started out with the Grand Carousel. It was a double decker carousel and had some great views of the park.

Conor does not like Carousels, so he and Michael went over to Duplo Valley and rode the Duplo tractor and played on the Duplo playground.

The boys rode The Dragon next. Patrick said that it was his favorite ride at Legoland. Conor and I rode Merlin's challenge, which was a HUGE mistake for me. I thought I could probably ride anything that Conor rode, but it went in fast circles and bounced up and down. I felt extremely sick afterwards!

Then we headed towards Safari Trek. It's a cute little ride that has lego animals throughout the slow car ride.

The boys rode Royal Joust and thought it was really fun

Next up was Lost Kingdom Adventure. It was a virtual shooting game and didn't work well, so it was very frustrating for the boys. Next we stopped to play in an amazing play area called Pharoah's Revenge, where you shoot foam balls from a 2 story play structure. The play structure kept the boys entertained for well over 30 minutes.

After our nice little play break we headed towards Ninjago World, which is their brand new area. The new ride was really really fun. However, I didn't even think about it being scary for Conor. The effects were pretty graphic and he screamed in terror the entire time. I felt pretty bad for not being prepared. In hindsight, we should have let the big boys go a second time since there was no wait. But, we were eager to get through the rest of the park before it closed.

We had told the boys that they could pick out one big toy from mom and dad the entire trip. Both of the boys passed on all toys at Disney World and patiently waited for Legoland. When they saw the Ninjago gift shop they both got really excited!

We happened upon Nya and the boys took a picture with her. Conor kept his distance at first, but then decided he wasn't scared and jumped in the picture with the big boys.

We headed towards boating school next. Michael entertained Conor in line.

This ride was surprisingly very difficult. There is no track at all and you really do have to steer yourself in the boat. I rode with Peyton and we pretty much crashed into everything, which he thought was the most fun thing ever!

Next up was driving school. Peyton was in the 3-5 age range on the smaller track.

Patrick was on the larger track in the 6-9 age group. Patrick was so serious the entire time he was racing. He was very focused on his race.

We took a group picture in front of the lego car.

After the driving school we headed towards Project X.  This looked absolutely terrifying to me and there is no way I would ever agree to ride this one. However, it ended up being Peyton's favorite ride. It was so high in the air that I didn't get a good picture of Michael, Sharon, Patrick and Peyton riding it. Peyton was jumping up and down afterwards begging to ride again, so Michael and Sharon reluctantly agreed to do the ride again. Michael and Sharon both like thrill rides, but both came off that ride saying they thought they were going to die and that it seemed very unsafe!

Next up was Flying School. Your feet dangle in the air as you go fast up and down . I thought it would scare the kids, but they loved it. The park was getting near closing time, so we headed to Miniland to round out our day.

We also tried their apple fries on the way out of the park and they were beyond delicious!

Then we headed the few steps to our hotel. The room and the hotel were AMAZING! It is seriously a little boys dream. I'm not sure that pictures can do it justice, but ill attempt. We stayed in a Pirate VIP Suite. When you walk in the door, there is a playroom with lots of lego's immediately greeting you.

To the left there is a sitting room

The master bedroom

The bathroom had a tub and a shower

And the bunk room

There was an amazing patio outside that overlooked the pool on one side.

And the lake on the other

There was a treasure chest in the room. It was locked and the only way to find out what was inside was to solve a puzzle. Patrick was thrilled. I should have taken a video of him solving the puzzle, but I was too occupied helping him. He solved the puzzle and then opened the lock and found 3 mini lego sets and 3 juice boxes. He loved it! Afterwards, we headed downstairs for the buffet at Bricks restaurant. The boys ate everything on their plate and the adults portion was good too. I was pretty impressed that they were able to cater to both the kids and the adults.

There were TONS of activities in the lobby that night. But, since it was a Friday night it was packed. The boys decided they wanted to go swimming instead of doing the master building games or the disco pajama party in the lobby.

There were only a couple of other people in the pool, so we pretty much had it to ourselves. The boys loved building legos and swimming.

Patrick thought it was a little too cold to swim that night, so after he watched his brothers swim he built for a little while in the lobby.

The next morning we headed down to Brick's for our free breakfast. It was really delicious! We had free second day tickets to the theme park, but we gave the boys the option of swimming in the Lego pool first or heading to the theme park. They all decided that they wanted to swim. It was HOT, so they enjoyed swimming for a couple of hours.

Once the boys were done swimming, we had about 3 hours to explore the theme park before we needed to leave. We packed all of our things into the car and headed back to the theme park. It was a Saturday and was absolutely PACKED. The difference between a Friday and a Saturday at the park was really incredible. The lines were so long for all the rides that we barely rode anything and became pretty frustrated. We were very glad that we had ridden everything we wanted to ride the day before. We rode a couple of rides and then went to lunch at Funtown Pizza and Pasta Buffet. It was quick and easy and the boys enjoyed it.

We visited the lobby and rode in the fun disco elevator one last time before departing for the airport.

We were off to the airport to end our fun trip. It was a really amazing trip! I can't believe it was our last trip as a family of 5!
