Northeast Family Vacation- Portland (Part 8)

We started our first morning in Portland with a walk to Holy Donuts. They make their donuts out of Maine potatoes. I thought it was delicious, but a couple of the kids weren't fond of their chocolate potato donuts.

After our donuts we went on a little lighthouse tour of Portland. There were four within a few miles of our hotel and we decided it would be fun to go and visit them.

The first lighthouse we visited was the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.

The kids loved jumping on all of the rocks to get to the lighthouse. It was a little trickier than it looks!

The next lighthouse we visited was Bug Light (also known as Portland Breakwater Light). It was a cute little lighthouse in a park.

Next on the list was Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. It is Maine's oldest lighthouse and it is gorgeous! There were tons and tons of people there, with lots of food trucks and birthday parties going on. We decided to try and get out of the crowd a little bit and hike out onto the rocks. The kids had a lot of fun climbing all the rocks to pose for pictures.

We went to Bissell Brothers brewing company for lunch and some beers. Everything we tried was really delicious. They had a lot of IPA's and I am not normally an IPA fan, but I enjoyed everything!

After lunch we headed to church at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It is a gorgeous old church in Portland. We decided to attend mass in honor of Papaw Clancy. It was a very beautiful mass. Unfortunately, it had no air condition so the children were a little antsy by the end of the service. We attempted to take a picture so Michael could send to his grandmother, but it was a terrible picture.

We tried to visit Ram Island Lighthouse next, but there was no parking. We made a little bit of a wrong turn and found a playground instead. The kids begged to play on the playground so we stopped. We walked on a trail behind the playground and ended up at this gorgeous view.

We headed back to the hotel and decided to walk somewhere for dinner on the water. We ended up at the Flatbread Company. Every single kid absolutely loved their meal. Conor even told the waiter the restaurant should be featured in a newspaper, haha! We went all out for our last dinner and got every dessert all of the kids wanted.  They were so excited.

Gorgeous view while we drank some pre-dinner drinks.

Peyton thoroughly enjoyed his blueberry soda ice cream float. The rest of us loved our blueberry crisp and whoopie pies with ice cream!

It was a great spot for our last dinner in Maine!
