Northeast Summer Vacation - Bar Harbor/Acadia (Part 4)

On our first full day in Acadia we went on a morning trolley tour with Oli's Trolley. Oli's was right next to our hotel and we thought it might be a good way to learn about the park and learn our way around. It was an extremely busy week for the park, so this was a great introduction.

He told us about all of the beaver dams as we drove by them.

Then we stopped at Thunder Hole. We took a family selfie.

Then a nice person offered to take our photo.

After Thunder Hole, we made a stop at Jordan Pond. The kids got a blueberry soda to go and absolutely loved it! We were excited to come back later in the day and have a meal at the restaurant.

Our last stop on the trolley tour was at Cadillac Mountain, the highest point in Acadia. We also had reservations to come back for sunset one night, so it was cool to check it out in advance.

The pictures just don't do it justice. It's gorgeous looking out over all the islands and water that surrounds you.

After the trolley tour we hopped in the car to head to the Jordan Pond Area. We were not able to find a parking spot at Jordan Pond, so we parked at the bubbles trail. We took the bubbles trail to Jordan Pond and hiked half of Jordan Pond to the restaurant.

The kids loved climbing on all of the big rocks and kept asking me to take their picture!

We had late lunch reservations at Jordan Pond. We thoroughly enjoyed the popovers, blueberry drinks and seafood! It is also such a fun ambiance.

After lunch we hiked the opposite way on Jordan Pond back to the bubbles trail. This was the kids absolute favorite hike of the trip. They loved the boardwalk portion. They were running so fast they missed the beaver in the water!

I was trying to catch up with the kids and missed the beaver too. Michael snapped a few pictures of him for us.

The hike ended up being a little over 5 miles. We were pretty tired afterwards and decided to head back to the hotel to swim in the pool. We watched a gorgeous sunset from the pool.

It got a little cold after the sun went down!

We headed back to our hotel to finish watching the sunset from our hot tub.

An amazing first day in Maine! We had the absolute best time!
